Through our walks, cycles and minibus adventures, WOW totally uplifts and transforms lives. Our activities create opportunities to:

  • Build muscle and strong bones to prevent falls and injury

  • Strengthen the body, mind & immune system

  • Transform the body by losing weight and burning fat

  • Make new friends surrounded by like-minded WOWers

How does activity help?

 

With WOW activities – at your own pace, within your own abilities, dancing for a minute or 2 hours, moving your body seated or standing, WOW Activity programmes provide the following impacts:

  • Released through walking, dancing, and engaging in meaningful leisure activity

    De-stressor and helps body to feel satisfied

  • Exercise helps the body to release this happy hormone.

    Results in: Increased feeling of happiness, enhanced mood; boosts cognitive function, aiding memory & learning

  • Released from the body when we move, dance, walk

    Helps reduce pain and enhances wellbeing

  • Hormones released when weconnect with others; hand holding, touch, hugging.

    Anti-stress effects– reducing blood pressure & cortisol levels, pain threshold increased

Our Activity Programmes and Discos benefit EVERYONE…and also those with Long-term medical conditions, such as:

Our Activities also help our Wowers to keep well and to prevent diseases which are linked to inactive and disconnected lifestyles- e.g. certain types of dementia. 

Our WOW events, along with the socialising and eating together develop feelings of belonging and create vital bonds with others; they are perfect forums to learn about yourself and your body, to challenge yourself, to be creative, and to engage in new learning
